About Mods and MOMI

Mods and Mods of Mistria Installer (MOMI) are unofficial community content and tools. We found no reliable documentation confirming a built-in mod loader. This guide describes the installation method in the MOMI project's README.

Content updated and sources checked September 30, 2026. GitHub marked MOMI v0.16.4, published September 18, 2026, as its latest release when checked. A downloadable installer is not a guarantee that every mod or system is compatible.

Check Compatibility Before Installing

⚠️ Popularity and download counts do not establish safety. Check the source and author's instructions; wait to install if compatibility is unclear.

How to Install Mods with MOMI

  1. Windows: create a lowercase mods folder in the game directory, beside FieldsOfMistria.exe.
  2. Steam Deck/Linux: create mods in the game directory, or mistria-mods in your home directory.
  3. Get a compatible mod from its author's release page and extract the archive. Put the mod's own folder directly inside mods, with manifest.toml inside that folder. Do not leave the ZIP unextracted or nest the mod inside a duplicate folder.
  4. Get the installer for your operating system from the MOMI project's GitHub releases. Open the GUI version, check the detected mod list, and choose Install. Copying folders alone does not complete installation through MOMI.
  5. If the game is not detected, put the installer in the game directory beside Maybe.toml and run it again.

After Updates and When Mods Are Missing

After a game update, check MOMI's notes and each mod's compatibility again before rerunning the installer to reinstall your mods. Reinstallation alone cannot fix an incompatible mod.

If a mod is missing from the list, check that it is extracted and follows the layout mods/mod-folder/manifest.toml. An old-format mod without that manifest needs an author update. Follow each mod's specific removal and recovery instructions, and keep your save backup.

We have not run comparative tests of individual mods, so this page does not offer a universal best-mod ranking. For an unmodified playthrough, browse all fish, cooking recipes and the romance guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the game have a built-in mod loader?

We found no reliable documentation confirming one. This guide describes MOMI, an unofficial third-party tool; copying files and enabling them in-game is not the documented installation process.

Where should I download MOMI?

Use the GitHub releases for Garethp/Mods-of-Mistria-Installer. On September 30, 2026, the release marked latest was v0.16.4. Check your operating system and the installer version required by each mod.

Will older mods work?

The MOMI README warns that mods from before July 2026 need an author update. Later mods also need individual compatibility checks against the current game and MOMI versions.

What should I do after a game update?

Keep a save backup and review the README, MOMI release notes and each author’s compatibility guidance. After checking support, rerun MOMI to reinstall the mods. This does not guarantee that every error will be fixed.
